This 2,800 square foot, Alces Post & Beam designed home is located in the Mad River Valley and was built in 2003. It faces almost due south to take advantage of passive solar heating and to orient living space towards the incredible view of Vermont's Green Mountains. The frame is planed Eastern white pine and incorporates a principal rafter/purlin roof system. The 8-bent structure has a 20' x 20' great room with a central hammer beam truss and cathedral ceilings. It has 4' knee walls on the second floor, 2 gable dormers that provide natural light into two second floor bedrooms, and a 24' shed dormer on the opposite side which provides the ceiling height and natural light for two upstairs bathrooms. The pine frame is enhanced by the addition of dropped black cherry splines, cherry flooring and beautiful trim work. The house has 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a spacious farmhouse style kitchen and dining area, and a first floor master bedroom suite. It has a 9' x 30' timber framed entry porch to welcome family and friends.
