tag Southern Vermont Home

The owners of this southern Vermont home had a growing young family in need of additional living space. This rough sawn Eastern hemlock addition tripled the size of their existing log cabin. The structure added a living room, master bedroom and bathroom, and an entry with mudroom on the first floor, and two bedrooms, a bathroom, and plenty of storage on the second floor. This is a unique structure in that internal roof rafters and purlins created individual roofs over the master bedroom and living room areas for a cozy feel. Salvaged barn board applied over the roof purlins and a southwestern décor adds character to this structure. The frame was insulated with SIPs.
